The UN's Uniting for Peace still offers possibilities internationally. VotePact could be a path out of the deranged duopoly — to a meaningful realignment of politics.

Excellent question. There are several ways it could spread:
* two prominent people pair up and use their notoriety to bring attention to it. Once people see two people who they recognize doing this, they will be moved to find someone in their own life. I've tried to make this happen several times and it hasn't worked so far.
* People start pairing up online. This actually happened in 2016. A group allied with Garry Johnson took my VotePact idea and rebranded it The Balanced Rebellion. Johnson ran as a Libertarian and had the biggest success since Perot. His campaign was more successful than Nader. A fellow last year set up https://www.breaktheduopoly.com to help people pair up online. One issue here is trust. The Balanced Rebellion had money and put out an entertaining video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLAh3pui-CI
* Some candidate, perhaps at the local level, runs successfully using the strategy. My friend Kelley Lane from North Carolina is setting up https://nopeasants.org as a platform for anti-establishment candidates. I've contemplated running myself, but last year the Green Party couldn't move swiftly enough to get me on the ballot with Sen. Cardin's seat opening up and the next open Senate seat in Maryland would compel me to run against Van Hollen, which might be awkward. My House district is not competitive, so it would be a poor test case for VotePact.org. The ideal situation is to have a race with a Chuck Schumer vs a Mitch McConnell and then launch a strong anti-establishment candidate.
* It begins totally at the grassroots. I've been saying this is a peaceful revolution waiting to happen. Literally anyone could set it off. Some person or persons start pairing up, both pledging to break out of the duopoly. Perhaps they would tell their story online and it takes off from there, maybe it takes off locally and spreads from there.
