20 years ago, the Feb. 15, 2003 global protests shook the world and the establishment. The "peace movement" never tried that again, instead incorporating itself into the Democratic Party. So it died.
Remember COINTELPRO. There's no reason to believe that government infiltration of the peace movement has stopped; it has only become more sophisticated and more secure in its control. Agents provocateurs led the Jan 6 protest over the cliff. It's a good bet that the leadership of UFPJ knew exactly what they were doing when they took a turn into the jaws of the Democratic Party.
Also, once NGO "Movement" media groups like Democracy Now!, FAIR, IPA started relying on gramt money from foundations (like MacArthur, Ford, Park, Bill Moyers's Schumann Foundation, etc.) to fund their operations, it became easier for U.S. power elite to channel U.S. anti-war movement (which had long also been penetrated by some white, ethnically chauvinist liberal Russophobic/Arabphobic funders and groups) into becoming a "parallel left" electoral recruiter/cover for the Hawk Democratic Party's "lesser evilist" leadership, in many ways' (as well as a political tendency that opposed creation of some kind of anti-imperialist left, independent third-party or working-class-based, anti-war Movement on the streets and campuses, etc..).
In all fairness, the "war movement" has been quite nefariously clever, removing all visible costs of war to those in the American Empire: https://consortiumnews.com/2023/02/14/diana-johnstone-demonstrate-together/ and making most Americans oblivious--just sleepwalking to nuclear Armageddon. This is an end of Empire mode of course but this time with nuclear superpowers on hair trigger alert, it could likely end in suicide-homicide, due to the mass shooters' mass despair .
