I have to say why do the US people keep voting these idiots in?

I liked Ralph Nader/Bernie Sanders (who sold out) now Jill Stein. All of them had a good chance but for those people who remain(ed) shackled.

This mindset has to be broken.

Good luck.

I am not in the US.

*AND*, in "safe states" (where there is no chance Trump will win) like CA where I live, no progressive has any reason to vote Dem, because their advantage here is so great (it's a built-in landslide every time). They don't need your votes to win! So for Goddess' sake, people, vote for Jill! If you don't vote your conscience when you are 100% free to do so with no fallout for s yone but the corporate Dems, you never will, and truly are in chains. Please share with your friends.

How do you recommend finding the most likely acquaintances to discuss Votepact with? I'm having a hard time imagining anyone that would counterbalance, there's so much disengagement from my cohort locally and the people who are without apathy are pretty much brainwashed. I love the concept, but the combination of apathy from a huge percentage of the electorate combined with the cynicism and willingness to sell out to the lesser evil from the Democrats and the cult of Trump from the Republicans is fucking formidable.

I think your experience is not unique, and is in fact the norm. This VotePact thing sounds good in theory, but the reality of how humans form their relationship with politics is anything but rational. It's about feelings and emotions, fear, hatred, and adoration. It's about a sense of belonging as well as a deeply ingrained and very human discomfort with new ideas and ways of thinking. Simply put, we are not innately rational creatures and should not be expected to behave or think as such.

The lack of rational thinking in politics is, imho, exasperated and a symptom of the real problem. In the US, citizens are brainwashed completely by Hollywood and the ultra sophisticated marketing which has changed the way people perceive 'thinking'. They have been completely fooled and do not see it. Do you recall the warning Jesus gave us in Matthew 6:22-23? I just read it this morning (NLT) and it humbled me, especially "And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!" The Deceiver's primary tool is to convince you that YOU are right!

Covid is one of the most blatant examples about how Americans, especially the millions of unbelieving "Christians" : the sheer lack of 'risk assessment' (what are the chances I will get the virus and what are the chances it will kill me?), the acceptance of government money to 'go along', and promotion of a known to be dangerous technology (mrna shot, the harm remains untold and the MDs remain in denial) instead of healthy food, exercise, socialization....everything we KNOW to be true should have convinced people of the lies they are being told to 1) control them and 2) mandate the purchase/use of a product.

The political parties are products and it's all one big marketing scheme. It reflects exactly what the citizens respond to after a life time of deep brainwashing of each individuals' exceptionalism. A government that believes they are exceptional among nations is filled with citizens that believe the same about their individual selves.

And the worst part? Read that sentence again..."And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!" This nation and its' government will continue to fail as long as its' citizens do not understand that the light they think they see (what they believe to be true) is, in fact, darkness (a lie). They, including me, are not exceptional nor good.

Very true. And interesting quote from the Bible. My favorite representation of this idea is the Allegory of Plato's Cave, and I think it best describes how people generally think about politics. Most peoples' understanding of the world is fundamentally irrational, and trying to convince people they are deceived is nigh on impossible.

Yes, Plato's Cave describes it quite well. Since my daily practice begins with reading the Bible, it is foremost on my mind as I look for ways to apply what I've read each day. It's undeniable to me that my own participation in self-deceit has a great effect not just on

my own life but my family, friends, community, and country in which I live.

Once one realizes the 'dream-like delusional' state of the darkness in one's own life, a choice to remain or transform results.

How wonderful to be alive!
