The ICJ has done what they can do with this decision. Now, we, Americans, need to see that our own laws are enforced. Members of the Biden administration should be charged with 18 U.S. Code § 1091, the law that brought the genocide convention into US law.

They may feel they are immune now, but let's get them considering just how temporary that might be, given what is possible when they leave office, as they have set the precedent of charging former presidents. Here's the best news of all, "an offense under this section, an indictment may be found, or information instituted, at any time without limitation." No time limit for when they can be charged. They should have visions of prison all the days of their lives.

The propagandists in the Mainstream Media need to be charged as well.

Let us find the way!

I agree on media but I think demands on the ICJ should reflect its international stature. Death, maiming, destruction result from the ICJ's limp wrist. These judges have drawn out this 'plausible' genocide, allowing the criminal every benefit and denying the victim needed relief. How many times did S. Africa have to ask in the face of blatant evidence? And where are ICJ deadlines? What consequences happened after noncompliance with the February decision? And YEARS expected before a final decision, hardly that for their final okay on German arms. Inconsistent. Worse, we know US influence on international bodies.

In a real life and death outrage, how can process particularly here trump the intent and content of the UN charter, Declaration of Human Rights, and all those other legal mandates that are meaningless if not enforced.

Thanks Sam... it's clear that in the eyes of most of the world, the Palestinians have moral authority on their side. I thought Uganda was going to remove their judge but perhaps that's like implementing the decision the ICJ decision, these things take time. Let's hope there's still time left.

The Palestinians apparently have and have had LEGAL authority on their side, that no one discusses - even to rebut. Dr. Wilde described this authority to the ICJ this February (2024), yet it seems smothered in silence,

Thanks PR and of course you're right. Before looking at the youtube you kindly sent, I know that international law states quite clearly that people who suffer under occupation have the legal right to forcefully resist. Unfortunately, legal and moral authority without enforcement power in the part of the world which falls into the US' hegemonic rules' based order orbit won't buy a cup of coffee even with a dime. One day we may reach the end. Thanks again.

M Miller I don't know who else applies Dr. Wilde's takes on self-determination and (not resistance) use of force. His arguments and illustrations thoroughly impressed me. There's even a solution and timeline ('IMMEDIATELY,' with emphasis & scholarly legal authority). I'm obviously biased so please point out the errors in his reasoning. At this rate, it seems Palestinians will reach the end before ICJ or UN decisions or effective action. My own thought is for the Security Council to overrule the veto and send out the peacekeepers. In bombproof bubbles. Surely there are mature minds on the UNSC that play chess in more dimensions than the warmongering enablers. It's about rules & results.

Thank you for your reporting. And your substack.

Now, let's see what DOS will say.

Call your Members of Congress & demand an end to funding genocide.. calls work.. brief & polite is best folks on phones take messages they do not vote policy. Capitol switchboard can locate House & Senate by zip code & every Committee has staff for messages too. 202-224-3121

Thanks, Sam. This is great news. While the existing provisional measures already require Israel to stop their military action, there is no ambiguity in this ruling. Israel surely won't comply, but let's see how its Western enablers respond.

It is very important but with a USA veto nothing can be done and Israel will push ahead to "finish the job". Prob going to forcibly make them walk the plank i.e new dock. thereby removing them from Gaza. Boat people

Perhaps Iran could drop a hypersonic missile on Dimona to make the Zionists think twice about it. Maybe Hezbollah can raze parts of Tel Aviv. Yes Lindsey Graham is drooling with anticipation of the blood he will spill but how else could it possibly stop? Do we protest until the cows come home? and nothing will be done to stop it in UK or USA?

I inadvertently heard an NPR report this morning with, beside stopping the attack and allowing aid and inspectors, a report due from Israel in a month? [I ask because that NPR news also said US policy on Taiwan is one China - without noting our military buildup or favored new Taiwanese president.]

Any news about the ICJ setting real action deadlines? And meaningful consequences if Israel doesn't immediately comply? NPR actually said compliance isn't expected. So this isn't more ICJ posturing? And they're deaf to those US threats against the ICC?

ICJ has no enforcement mechanism, so it's hardly posturing. They have reacted, and taken steps to the extent of their authority. It's up to the people of the world to pressure their governments to enforce this. Otherwise, the international institutions, that were set up to supposedly protect those with less power, are dead by our own hands, at least if we are in the West.

What about direct global pressure? International law speaks to self-determination and use of force that apply in this case (per Dr. Wilde's explanation elsewhere here). But ICJ judges waffle, and they've shown biases. The enforcer UNSC failed to enforce the last ICJ ruling. Via process (US veto) with claptrap reasoning. If the point is to stop the massacre, what do you think, in this case and considering the prior failure of the Security Council to act, and with explanatory documentation, the rest of the Security Council overrides the US veto? Extraordinary measures/extraordinary times. Rules cover the bulk of situations. Bodies override their rules for extraordinary situations. The alternative here seems a continuing massacre. I vote to override any nonsensical veto. You?
