Concise, searingly true. Shame on the non-men and non-women who dominate our politics.

I listened to Scott Ritter on Jimmy Dore show last night. He laid out his vision of two competing scenarios between Iran and Israel. Iran exhausting Israels stockpile of missiles by bombing them all week, thus leading to negotiations lead by Russia and China. Or Israel dragging the US into this conflict with terrible consequences everywhere. Oddly this former weapons inspector whose worst driving fear is nuclear war never used the word "nuclear bomb" in his four short segments with Aaron Mate. He did not mention Israels abundant arsenal of nukes, their eagerness to use them, or their famous Samson Option. Why is that?

If you would allow me to speculate about Scott Ritter's reticence on this issue, I believe some people fear saying certain things for fear they will cause it to come true. It's childish, but I have seen such with my own eyes, so it suggests there must be something powerful in some people's psyche that stops them from being fully honest with themselves, and perhaps, it also lets them cling to the idea that they still retain some power by holding those words back. I don't understand it at all, and I'm just speculating about this in Ritter's case.

To fully embrace the idea that Israel would do that, as Sy Hersh, long ago described, might be too debilitating for some to face. After all, how do you stop such a dangerous maniac who will stop at literally nothing, and has the power to destroy us all?

You stop him by sending in an international police force acting under international law to arrest him. You make this plan very clear to the world. This would be direction action under moral force, not an act of war between countries.

Spot on!! I couldn't agree more

That could be it, Joy. But still, his adamant opposition to the ancient civilization of Iran having the right to make their own decisions r.e. self defense was disappointing to put it mildly.

Shortly after these comments, Ritter appeared in a fourth interview with Aeron Mate on the Jimmy Dore Show. This time they DID talk about nuclear weapons. He blames Iran 100% for "provoking" the recent attacks from Israel. Apparently he believes they have no right to defend themselves (with nuclear deterrence) from mad men in foreign lands with plans to destroy their civilization.

What I got from that, was not that they have no right to defend themselves, but that they played right into the hands of the Israeli war mongerers, by certain actions, and by their rhetoric. He sounded to me like when he said they were to blame, he was saying, had they just kept their mouths shut about their capabilities and intentions, then they might have escaped this recent attack. Thanks for the heads up. It always helps to put links when referring to online sources.

Ouch! But needs to be said. God protect you always, Sam Husseini.

Sam - You are suggesting country upon and against country warfare it seems. This is how I replied to a comment from another of your readers (JoY) - You stop him by sending in an international police force acting under international law to arrest him. You make this plan very clear to the world. This would be direction action under moral force, not an act of war between countries. - Alanna

I'm suggesting these regimes stop protecting Israel and get a peace force together yesterday.

Such a good point. As a Muslim woman, it just looks utterly shameful. It reveals where the so-called "umma" is, extremely low point. God forgive and change us

Flotilla Power!

Activists from 44 countries have launched the largest civilian flotilla in history at the end of August in an effort to break Israel’s siege on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid to the starving population of the enclave.

The Global Sumud Flotilla, along with three allied initiatives, will send dozens of boats from Spanish ports on 31 August and Tunisian ports on 4 September, aiming to establish a humanitarian corridor and confront what organizers call Israel’s genocide against Palestinians.

Your father was a man worthy of the name. You must miss him terribly, dear Sam. Thank you for sharing his morality tales.
