Thank you so much Sam for being a stalwart champion of justice. May this court base its judgement on the legal merits of the case. Bravo to South Africa for their detailed presentation and their courage. As a founding BRICS member, they have shown themselves willing to go against the hegemon's rules' based order (i.e., my way or the highway).
It's going to get interesting if the term "blood libel" is uttered by the Israeli lawyers, since that means they will have to define it. We're all familiar with Israel's genocidal actions over the past 75 years, it's only now that Hamas is fighting back effectively that they decided to pull all the stops and drop their masks. My concern is that the Court will buy the argument that October 7 represented a genocidal attempt as well, which ignores everything that happened up to that point. It's clear that Israel has always had designs on Greater Israel, which is why they've never bothered to define their borders. Again, my thanks for your leadership in getting this issue before the World Court.
It was surreal watching South Africa present the case against Israel on the world stage. I can't remember a time in history where Israel's vicious oppression of the Palestinian people has been thoroughly and accurately described for the world to hear. Truly historic. Now I'm just hoping for a just ruling, but I remain apprehensive.
