Biden made a genocide, then says: “There’s no place for this kind of violence in America.” MLK: "When you rise to the level of love," you seek "only to defeat evil systems."
After today I really have to wonder. I saw your tweet after the debate about Trump addressing Palestine and Israel - he indicated Israel was the aggressor (in a way), and then said something like 'let them do it'. One of the people close to him is Vivek, and he said something like "let Israel do what they need to, but we won't fund it". A large segment of Trump supporters are probably, I think, also quite tied to the 'America First' figures, like MTG, who are somewhat vocal about not sending money to either Ukraine or Israel. I wonder. I was a Bernie guy, voted dem until 2016 when i voted for Trump. Voted third party in 2020. I had been waiting for Trump to say some more somewhat vague but promising and impulsory things about Palestine and Israel. I'm wondering how that could have happened today.
With all respect, in this situation where's the primacy of laws? Tangible. Enforceable. Even ICJ and UN decided on. But unmentionable? How can a law abiding voter living in a democracy consider anything else first? Sam plz elaborate on this!
Not what Trump or Biden see/think/feel, it's what they DO. Compared to what they're obligated to do. What we're obligated to do. By law.
I've heard of some world leaders commenting on this- has BB commented on it? he probably has and I just haven't seen it yet. i know a lot of people didn't see this coming.
I've been wondering about this too - whether Trump would be so willing to fund Israel. I think he sees it in terms of a "deal." Palestinian liberation is not on the table with him. But I'm not sure this kind of bloodbath would have been either - and not because he sees that Palestinians as human. With where things are at, I think he sees that Israel is committing genocide and that he would actually push them to "finish the job." The only real solution would be a culture of love. But that's the last thing the powerful want.
It is a beautiful vision and a compelling invitation. The spirit is right on. But I am not intending to vote for or against Trump, Biden, or RFK Jr. I am simply doing my best to ignore them. Can someone like me join the vote pact movement, since I don't need to be liberated from the two headed hydra? Just encouraged to vote for SOMEBODY? If so, how?
Sam, your reply here reminds me of Gandhi's response to a Hindu who had killed a Moslem child during the religious civil war raging in India, and he (the Hindu) asked Gandhi how he (the Hindu) could avoid Hell. Gandhi responded that the Hindu should adopt a Moslem orphan and raise the orphan as a Moslem. This is, in my opinion, the strongest moment in the entire 1984 movie "Gandhi" starring Ben Kingsley.
We are sojourners and that is why we 'don't fit'. There is no need to resist this ill-fitting because God promises in Psalm 101:6 "I will search for faithful people to be my companions."
For those of us whose spirit is joined with the Holy Spirit, we struggle, until we find His rest. In His rest, we find that love and compassion is the only way to maintain this 'rest'.
This rest is found throughout God's Word and the dominate them in the book of Hebrews where He assures us that our spirits are joined and that's when the struggle (until we find rest) over our souls (emotions/reason) and our bodies (we are temples yet decay). We are DESIGNED to love and we relax and rest in knowing that our highest calling is to love one another.
For me, Psalm 107-23-32 remains a metaphor for my own life, and I am delighted to report that I am being brought safely into His harbor.
Go! Love one another. Positively touch every single life you come in contact with today.
Let your Light shine!!!!
Sam, I had not heard this recording of MLK,jr before and thankful that you share it with us this beautiful summer morning.
This is an excellent commentary. I only add that I watched a debate with Jill Stein, Chase Oliver, and Randall Terry, and I thought that they all won in the sense that all were sincere. They agreed on several important issues, e.g. abolish the fed, get out of NATO and so on. This event was refreshing for candor without abuse. Just a note of approbation for a real exchange of ideas.

I think hoping that good will come from Trump is deluded. I've written some about this and will try to write some more.

Be a matchmaker. Find people who are trapped and urge or help them to pair up so that bond helps them be free.
Will do!

If we are a nation of laws, voters do not collude with violators.
Domestic and international laws prohibit genocide, wars, assassinations, regime changes, covert operations, sanctions outside UN actions, arms sales, free speech censorship, race favoritism, etc.
Ignorance is no defense, yes or no?
