The US is the definition of Mussolini's ideal fascist state: an indistinguishable corporate/governmental blend and, it doesn't matter what party is in seeming control. Between the Deep State (aka by Col. Vindman as the interagency consensus) and the military-industrial or pharmaceutical-industrial complex, one trick ponies like RFK Jr. aren't going to meaningful change things. The very fact he's running as an independent means he identifies with the Dem Party sufficiently, even on a legacy basis that at best, he'll make modest course corrections. It's not been the party of his father for essentially two generations, much less that of FDR.

thanks for this Sam, but RFK Jr and Wakefield, anti-vax stuff being conflated with huge big pharma concerns, is so distasteful to me. Of course, a lot of other RFK stuff is solid, but jesus, why can't we have a well sorted lefty ish candidate, like Sanders but a bit younger. (yes, Sanders isn't perfect but in the US, he's Emma Goldman and Trotsky combined ;-) ).

I’ve critted RFK Jr on Ukraine. His position is infinitely better than Sanders. Perhaps a reexamination of pandemic policies is overdue by many progressives. Kennedy has been quite useful on pandemic origins while here again, on this existential threat, much of the Democratic Party, including Sanders, has been pathetic at best.

I HATE this party. And I’m very careful with this word and rarely use it. It is the biggest slap in the face to democracy in our history.

However, I’d rather fight for the lesser evil to a good degree in this party than vote for Biden as the lesser evil between the parties. If Biden is the candidate I will not insult democracy, myself or the future with a vote for him or his party. For me his Covid stance said it all. They threw everything at him and he didn’t budge. Ukraine is paramount. Palestine, he will have a hard time here. AIPAC is on fire in our “democracy” right now and pulling a lot of weight. Thanks, Sam.
